Between Vimmerby and Västervik

Totebo sits exactly where quiet forest meets two very different destinations: the Astrid Lindgren town of Vimmerby and the skerry coast near Västervik.

Totebo & Two Lakes

Forest-edge location · Two separate lakes

Totebo itself isn't a town with a centre, but a quiet, scattered settlement in the forest — which is exactly what makes Ullevi's location special. Two hundred metres separate the house from Lake Nässjön, the swimming lake with its own jetty. A few minutes' drive further lies Lake Hällsjön, home to the boat “Jenny” and the fishing spot.

Shops and the bus stop are about a kilometre away — close enough for everyday errands, far enough that all you hear by the lake is forest.

Two Lakes, One Home

Nässjön & Hällsjön

Rather than a single lake, Ullevi actually has two separate lakes, each with its own role.

Nässjön

Swimming & Barbecuing · 200 m from the house

Totebo's official swimming spot sits right on this lake — jetty, barbecue area and lawn all within sight of Ullevi.

Hällsjön

Boat & Fishing

The second lake lies a few minutes' drive to the south. This is where the boat “Jenny” is moored and where the fishing happens — quieter than the swimming lake by the door.

Vimmerby

Astrid Lindgren's World · Small-town charm

As Astrid Lindgren's birthplace, Vimmerby is best known for the theme park Astrid Lindgren's World — Pippi Longstocking, Michel of Lönneberga and the Brothers Lionheart are recreated here as walk-through settings, not just as rides.

For a day trip from Ullevi, Vimmerby is close enough to visit in the morning and still be back at your own lake in the afternoon.

Västervik

Skerry coast · Tjust archipelago

Västervik sits on the Baltic coast and is the gateway to one of Sweden's largest archipelagos — thousands of small islands, reachable by excursion boat or your own kayak.

The historic wooden harbour town itself is worth a stroll; those staying longer combine the town visit with a boat trip out into the archipelago.

Elchpark Virum

Wildlife up close

The Elchpark Virum moose park is a comfortable distance from Ullevi — and moose can also be spotted in the region outside the park, as our own garden photo shows. An obvious excursion for anyone wanting a close-up look at Sweden's best-known forest animal.
